- What is a Consumer?
A Retail consumers is someone acting outside their own profession, for example a car mechanic arranging insurance on a house. In property insurance, a private freeholder who is arranging insurance to cover his building is acting outside his own profession, and is therefore treated as a Retail consumer. - What is a Commercial customer?
A Commercial customer means any other type of client who is not a Retail customer, for example a property manager who is asked or employed by a freeholder to arrange insurance on their building.
Retail consumers are deemed by the FSA to require a higher level of information prior to the conclusion of the contract than Commercial Customers, however Stride will provide all its customers with high standards of service as a matter of course.
