Arla sums up state of the buy to let market for property owners
The operations manager at the Association of Residential Letting Agents (Arla) has offered a series of insights into the current buy to let property market which will offer property owners and landlords information on the sector.
As well as the necessity of investing in adequate rent protection insurance, landlords were also advised that it would be very difficult to predict which way rent prices will go.
Ian Potter also claimed that despite the increased rental prices, many landlords still aren't making big money out of the sector. This is because a large proportion are on particularly high mortgage rates.
Speaking specifically about the reason for a boom in the market, Mr Potter said: "It is because there is a shortage of social housing, there are a lot of people who don't have the confidence to buy and there are a lot of people who can't afford to buy.
Arla was formed in 1981 as the professional and regulatory body for letting agents in the UK.
