British investors choosing property
Property remains the most popular investment vehicle for British consumers, according to Standard Life's latest savings and investment index.
While only two per cent of Briton opt to invest in the stock market, 23 per cent more Britons are investing in buy-to-let properties than three months ago.
This growing consumer confidence in property investment brings buy-to-let investment up to second place after investing in their own homes, which remains Britons' most common investment medium.
"The UK saver prefers to invest in bricks and mortar," said Standard Life chief executive Trevor Matthews.
Rising numbers of UK investors chooing to save through the medium of their own homes and buy-to-let highlights the importance of comprehensive insurance cover for homes and contents.
The reminder is salutary this month as the Met Office alerts homeowners to forthcoming flood warnings.
Earlier this month, Prudential became one of a number of insurers to advise customers on how to proceed in the event that flood warnings materialise this autumn.
