Buy to let insurance holders 'look forward to positive 2010'
Posted by Jonathan Walker
Buy to let insurance policyholders have had a tough year but they are feeling more positive about 2010, according to an expert.
David Salusbury, chairman of the National Landlords Association, said that over the last 12 months, the role of the private rental sector and buy to let insurance policyholders had been recognised as being increasingly significant.
"The housing shortfall needs to be filled and the private-rented sector has an important role to play in providing this much needed housing," he commented.
Mr Salusbury added that the decline in the number of reluctant landlords and the rising in demand for rental property was leading to a more positive outlook for the coming year.
"We now hope to see lenders release the purse-strings," he added, saying that this would "kick-start" the buy to let market.
Meanwhile, the Residential Landlords Association has expressed concern at the Payments Council Board's decision to get rid of cheques.
