Cheap flights 'boost Polish popularity'
Environmentalists may disapprove but the continued expansion of low-cost airlines has increased the number of investors looking to the furthest reaches of Europe, with Poland being one such beneficiary.
According to HiFX, the former member of the Soviet bloc is set to receive a substantial boost to its tourism as some 14 new cheap flight routes from the UK are planned to open to Poland over just two months.
Property investment will also benefit from the expansion of low-cost services to the country, with HiFX reporting that areas within ten miles of an airport can demand prices as high as 39 per cent more than the national average.
Mark Bodega, director at HiFX said: "The ease of access to a property has a real impact on its success as a holiday home as well as its future sale value."
However, he cautioned investors that buying a property solely on its proximity to an airport serving low-cost airlines can be risky.
" Remember many low-cost airlines will have no problems pulling the plug on a service if they believe it is not making them any money. They can't afford to support an under performing route," he said.
