Estate agents 'may be left behind in Hips goldrush'
Estate agents in England and Wales should prepare for the introduction of Home Information Packs (Hips) or risk being left behind in then the 'Hips goldrush', according to latest research.
This is the advice issued by Rob Hailstone, chief executive of Hipag Services, at the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) annual conference.
"Local independent estate agents are running the risk of losing their independence when Hips are introduced," Mr Hailstone remarked.
Hipag unveiled its Hip at the NAEA congress and told visitors how they could prepare in advance for their introduction in June 2007.
Mr Hailstone commented that their company approach meant that a high street solicitor will be able to produce a Hip for the seller and the estate agent very quickly.
He explained that this corporate approach means that Hip preparation will be taken out of local hands and done remotely in call-centre style "Hip factories".
