Estate Agents require further regulatory measures
Estate Agents need to be subjected to improved regulations, Halifax Estate Agents (HEA) suggests.
With the Consumers, Estate Agents and Redress Bill being discussed in parliament today, the group is calling for a series of measures to be introduced.
These include the licensing of estate agents, developments to improve clarity and choice for customers and a series of new national quality standards to be set up.
Research carried out by HEA shows that well over half of people who participated in a poll thought that a compulsory licensing scheme should be introduced.
Colin Kemp, managing director of HEA, said there was "real public support" for a proposed licensing scheme.
The current developments follow government plans to improve regulation as outlined in the Queen's Speech in November last year.
