Extra locations set for early Hips roll-out

Home Information Packs (Hips) are set to be available in an additional 12 locations before their roll-out in June 2007.

According to the Association of Home Information Pack providers (Ahipp), the early rolling out of Hips in more locations, including Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Nottingham and Plymouth, will allow for a "phased implementation" of the packs.

Paul Broadhead, deputy director general of Ahipp, said the move would ensure that the industry is "fully prepared to handle demand when the packs become mandatory".

He also said that while criticism of the packs had been forthcoming from various industry bodies, the packs had also been praised in the first six locations they had been rolled out in.

From June next year, all homeowners wanting to sell their property will have to compile one of the packs.
