Flood damage warning to property owners

Properties can take between three and six months to repair having been flooded, new research has suggested.
Paul Redington, property claims manager at Norwich Union, says that buildings can take a number of months to repair because properties need to be thoroughly dried out first.
"People need to understand how long these things take to resolve," Mr Redington added.
The group's comments follow severe flooding being experienced by residents in central Scotland last week, with more than 40 having to leave their homes last Wednesday.
However, insurer More Than has said that most insurance groups are likely to possess the skills to deal with flood insurance claims.
Last week, the government published a new planning policy to assist regional and local planners in managing flood risk in new developments.
