France 'best property investment bet for Brits'

British property investors are increasingly opting to buy holiday homes nearer the English Channel, according to an expert.

Laura Sturgess, web services research assistant at Property Finder France, says the country seems to be "a better bet" than Spain at the moment and is becoming more popular as a result.

She explains the bottom is falling out of the Spanish market, making France the best place for Brits to invest in at the moment.

There are also benefits for UK investors with increased Eurostar links across the Channel, which it is claimed is helping the French property market.

"Airports are adding more and more flights to more regional places in France and I'm not sure if that's a knock-on effect of the popularity of the property market over there or if it works in reverse," she continues.

RigtmoveOverseas.co.uk revealed recently it generated 8.7 million searches from January to May 2008, with Spain, France and the USA the three most popular countries.
