Golfing facilities in Portugal 'attractive to investors'
Scotland may have a reputation for quality golf courses, which are often attached to property developments, but it may have a rival in Portugal, it has been suggested.
Golfing resorts are becoming a major feature on the Silver Coast, which has begun to attract investors who see the potential in excellent courses to match the weather, according to the Daily Telegraph.
"On the coast near Obidos, the 230-hectare Praia D'El Rey Golf and Beach Resort was named the 2007 European golf resort of the year by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators," the newspaper noted.
Providing evidence of the quality of the resort, the Telegraph added that it "also features a seven-court tennis academy and a UEFA-size football pitch where Portugal's national team often trains".
Such is the appeal of these new developments to property investors that there is more building work planned, while the newspaper noted that 80 per cent of these properties are being snapped up by Brits.
Continuing the trend for bringing quality golfing facilities to the Portuguese coastline, there is set to be a new course designed by Seve Ballesteros at Falesia D'El Rey and a championship quality 18-hole course at the Bom Succeso resort.
