Hip changes 'are positive for consumers and industry'
Changes to home information packs (Hips) that are coming to play on April 6th will have a positive effect for both customers and the industry, according to one expert.
Lesley Sorridimi, of Hiphiphooray.com, says the document is becoming a consumer product.
She claims the new regulations, which include the introduction of the new property information questionnaire and the removal of the temporary first day marketing concession, will not really affect individuals buying and selling their homes.
Ms Sorridimi says they will most affect selling agents, who are the biggest lobbyers against the changes
She adds that although it will slow down the process of getting homes onto the market, it will not delay buying and selling.
"The reason for that is that all the information that has been gathered at the start of the process is normally what happens at the point when someone makes an offer," she explains.
Ms Sorridimi asserts that it is the "best time" for the changes to be introduced.
