Hips set for regional roll-out

Home Information Packs (Hips) are to be rolled out on a regional level by the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP) later this year.

The association says that it will implement the scheme is six locations across the UK, although it has yet to confirm where these will be.

In these areas, AHIPP members will be told to encourage both property buyers and sellers to try out the packs, which will also include a Home Condition Report (HCR).

"The government's decision to make the HCR a voluntary part of the Hip was spineless and unnecessary and was a decision made purely for political reasons," commented Paul Broadhead, deputy director general of the AHIPP.

"It is now up to industry to pick up the pieces and deliver its benefits to the consumer,"

He added that he expected the regional roll-out to be a success, with the packs proving popular with consumers.
