Holiday landlords "have more control"
Holiday letting second homes gives owners "more control" as tenants are only there for a short period of time, an expert asserts.
Tony Briscoe, director of DHC Accounting, says many proprietors prefer to let out their properties for holiday rentals because of they are more involved in its maintenance.
"You have people there for the short term so you can still keep an eye on your property rather than have a tenant for six months," he adds.
However because of these brief rental periods, landlords have to make more effort to attract tenants, Mr Briscoe says.
Providing more services gives a better quality of accommodation, which increases the likelihood of customers choosing the property for their holiday, he advises.
According to research by Holiday Cottages Group released this month, 55 per cent of second-home owners intend to rent their properties to tourists because of the current economic climate.
Women like the idea of becoming holiday landlords better than men, the study found.
