Hotel insurance holders 'affected by consumer review sites'
Written by Dan Winters
Businesses with hotel insurance could be affected by the fact that business travellers are increasingly scrutinising online review sites before making their bookings, an expert suggests.
Amelie Hurst, spokesperson for TripAdvisor, asserts that the recession has led businesses to examine their budgets more closely.
She says: "Business travellers are increasingly turning to reviews sites to ensure they get the best value for money."
Among the key factors are time and money, with travellers for either business or leisure purposes emphasising these elements.
Ms Hurst highlight the usefulness of review sites to hotel insurance customers, as these point to those elements of their business that need to receive attention.
She says it also draws their attention to the bits of their work which are most appreciated and the "things that their customers love about their business".
Recent research published by BDRC found nearly a third of business travellers actively seek advice on websites including customer reviews.
