Insurance 'important' for holiday homes
Insurance cover is important for holiday homes as too is having cover at home, the AA has announced.
Ian Crowder, public relations manager with the organisation, has said individuals should take out insurance cover for holiday homes for any belongings which are left there throughout the year.
He noted that even if insurance is taken out, then the homeowner still has a duty of care to ensure the property is well maintained and secure.
Mr Crowder commented: "If, for instance, you've left the main window wide open and you go out for the day and someone comes in and does the place over, you're not going to get a very sympathetic ear from the insurer."
He added that individuals should make sure everything in the house is covered, including carpets and curtains which could need replacing if an accident should occur.
According to Zurich Private Clients, one in ten people do not have insurance for their properties abroad.
