Italy 'will attract property portfolio insurance holders in 2010'

Property portfolio insurance policyholders will be looking towards stable markets such as France and Italy this year, according to a report.
The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) said that they are likely to look to less risky investment opportunities in these countries but suggested that the best bargains for property portfolio insurance policyholders would be available in Spain and Turkey.
It predicted that prices would remain stable in the first quarter of the year and so advised buyers to make their offers by March to secure a good deal.
The NAEA suggested that the balance of supply and demand would stabilise as soon as prices start to rise again and sterling strengthens against the euro.
"After a slow start to the year, the last quarter of 2009 saw sales and interest returning to the international market, with Italy being considered a safer investment than many other markets around the world," said Linda Travella, spokesperson for Italy at NAEA International.
Adam Samuel, director at Nubricks.com, recently said that investors would be returning to the European market.
