Lack of confidence could increase buy to let insurance levels
Buy to let insurance could be in for a boost after the director of external affairs at the Federation of Master Builders claimed that there is still a lack of confidence in the UK housing market.
This could lead to an increase in those looking to rent existing properties from landlords and property owners, many of whom will ensure they have adequate insurance.
Brian Berry claims that despite recent reports of an upturn in the market, closer inspection shows serious concerns and a lack of confidence within the sector.
Mr Berry said: "When you unpick it, you can see some real serious concerns in terms of the housing market and the lack of confidence in government's public spending, which is damaging confidence.
"There are real serious concerns about how the housing market is lagging behind."
October's Purchasing Managers' Index showed activity growth rose to a five-month high in October 2011, despite weakness in housing.
