Landlord fine warns buy to let buildings insurance holders

A Liverpool landlord has been fined for having sub-standard homes and failing to repair the properties which he rented, serving as a warning to holders of buy to let buildings insurance.
Chandan Gidoomal, who lives in Kensal Green, London, was fined £750 and ordered to pay £450 in costs after failing to fix a house in Liverpool, reported Click Liverpool.
Renters complained about the state of the property, leading Liverpool City Council's Public Protection Team to inspect the abode, seeing it had fallen into a state of disrepair.
Mr Gidoomal was given a formal notice under Section 215 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 asking him to carry out work on the house, which he did not comply with, leading to the action which will serve as a warning buy to let buildings insurance holders.
Councillor Berni Turner, Liverpool's executive member for the environment, told the source: "The city's environment has a direct impact on the wellbeing of the people of Liverpool and this case shows our resolve and determination to improve all aspects of the environment for those who live, work and visit the city."
Buy to let buildings insurance holders will soon be rated on a new website for tenants, meaning those with a bad reputation will likely get poor reviews.
