Leasehold laws 'unlikely to change soon for buy to let insurance holders'
Posted by Michael Brown
Leasehold laws are unlikely to change anytime soon, despite being based on ancient regulations, an expert has said.
Tom Entwistle, director of LandlordZONE.co.uk, said that buy to let insurance policyholders are unlikely to see dramatic alterations in the near future.
He said that they have gone through several statutory changes over the years.
Mr Entwistle was commenting on figures from the government's Leasehold Advisory Service - LEASE - which showed that there is currently a greater call on the organisation's services than ever before.
LEASE has predicted that it will deal with over 45,000 direct enquiries this year, a rise of 24 per cent compared to 2009.
Mr Entwistle suggested that this was not to do with any change in the leasehold system.
"I think basically the increase in enquiries is more to do with the fact that there are more situations where a landlord is letting a leasehold property at the moment," he said.
