'Metropolitan split' not a fear for property owners
Despite fears of a 'metropolitan split', property owners and landlords have been reassured that tenant demand is set to remain strong over the coming months by the chairman of the Residential Landlords Association (RLA).
Alan Ward has claimed that although there seems to be an ever-widening split between prices in the capital compared to those in the rest of the country, things are looking rosy.
He suggested that there are no indications of a drop in tenant demand although he urged landlords to factor in the cost of maintaining their portfolios and investment in buy-to-let insurance.
Mr Ward said: "There isn't any indication of tenant demand slowing as long as the supply side is falling well short. It does tend to sustain the rental levels, but it depends where you are. We have got this metropolitan split with the central London market."
With house prices constantly rising, many landlords are awaiting a boom period thanks to rentals.
