Modular houses are 'cheaper and better designed'
Modular houses are better designed, cheaper and more environmentally friendly, according to Spacebox.
The company has claimed that the houses are superior to regular homes in a several different ways.
John Fitzgerald, director at Spacebox, said about modular houses: "They are certainly quicker because it's like a production line facility really. It's all about volume though really, if you try to build one-off houses or you try to change the designs every time then the cost escalates very rapidly."
He added that one of the reasons that traditional houses are so expensive is that they are built "one at a time".
The company also claimed that modular housing is becoming more popular because skills shortages in the construction industry are forcing builders to look for other ways to build houses.
According to figures from the Federation of Master Builders, construction work in the UK has fallen to its lowest level since spring 2006.
