Montenegro may provide 'stable long-term' investments
Investors should turn their attention to Montenegro for long-term investment as it offers "stable" opportunities, according to one expert.
Montenegro may be in a period of political flux, having only become an independent state from Serbia in May 2006, but it could be a good area for investment, according to Dream Homes Montenegro.
Spokeswoman for the property firm, Andrea Marston said the "relative stability and low inflation" make the country an "attractive" proposition for some investors.
""Most [people] arrive with the plan to buy an investment property that they will sell within a short time frame," she said.
"However, the consensus seems to be that Montenegro has a lot more to offer than they thought and most opt to hold onto the property."
Areas which have proved popular so far among UK investors include apartments in Kotor, which have generally been sold by Montenegrins themselves who trade up for a larger house further inland.
Wary investors may be put off by the country not being a member of the EU, however the wheels are in motion with Montenegro adopting the Euro at the same time as Germany in 2002 and becoming a member of the Council of Europe last year.
