More homebuyers turning to web
Increasing numbers of homebuyers are making the internet their first port of call when looking for new property, according to recently released figures.
Research by Halifax Estate Agency found ten per cent of current homeowners began their search for their house on the web.
However, this percentage is set to grow as one third of respondents said they will first surf the net when looking for their next property.
Colin Kemp, managing director for Halifax Estate Agents, said: "Finding a new property on the internet has certainly increased in popularity with the ease of searching from your own home and the ability to search thousands of properties at a click of a button revolutionising the process."
Londoners were shown to be the most willing to embrace the web when searching for property with nearly half saying it would be their first search method for their next home.
The internet is ideal for Londoners, possibly due to the speed at which the property market moves in the capital, with a quarter of current householders having gone online already to find their property, according to the survey.
