Munich 'best property investment on continent'
Munich has beaten Paris to second place in the list of the best commercial property investment options in Europe.
The annual European Regional Economic Growth Index, which studies investor interest and occupier demand for property in 91 of Europe's cities, found Munich top among the continental cities.
London pipped the German city to the top spot, but the Munich still managed to skip past the French capital, Dublin and Stockholm as it moved up five places to the second slot.
Robin Goodchild, head of European research at the firm that compiled the index, LaSalle Investment Management, said: "Europe has a group of key cities, which are the principal locations investors should focus on. London, Munich and Paris are the standout markets of the moment that will offer consistent occupier demand through the business cycle."
Mr Goodchild added: "The survey has consistently identified an inner core of cities where property investors can expect robust returns. These are London, Paris, Munich, Dublin, Helsinki, Stockholm and Madrid.
"With market fundamentals positive and large volumes of capital still targeting European real estate, these cities can expect to take a large share of the transaction volume, notwithstanding the credit crisis."
