New body formed to help investors in Spanish property market
A new scheme has been launched to help protect investors from construction and legal difficulties when buying properties in Spain.
The Safe Buying Experience (SEB) aims to ensure a safe and secure process for investment in the Spanish property market as well as a range of independent professional services for investors, Homes Worldwide reports.
Susan Marson, CEO at SBE, told the publication: "Well publicised problems and issues associated with buying a home in Spain have led to a lack of confidence in the Spanish property market."
The SBE aims is to re-establish that confidence and ensure the whole buying process is secure and legally above board, she explained.
Properties accredited by the authority, which has been launched in partnership with major developers, will be vetted to make sure planning permission and necessary licences have been obtained.
Contracts will also be checked by the SBE, the news provider reports.
Meanwhile, figures published recently by Spain's National Statistical Institute (INE), show that the number of property deals in the country decreased by 27 per cent in January, compared to the same time last year.
