NLA 'praises rental review'

The newly-published Review of the Private-Rented Sector has been welcomed by the National Landlords Association (NLA).
According to the group, the report, written by Dr Julie Rugg and David Rhodes, is a strategic assessment that discards the claim there is some kind of crisis in buy-to-let and myth-driven policy-making.
David Salusbury, chairman of the NLA, said the review presents the government with a number of policy options based upon sound and independent evidence.
"It demonstrates and encourages a commitment to 'grow the business of letting' for smaller landlords but also encourages larger-scale investment, where appropriate," he added.
Mr Salusbury went on to say the report is clear about the positive elements within the private rental sector and those areas where the industry faces challenges.
This week, Mouseprice, the consumer brand of statistical consultancy Calnea Analytics, claimed if the government's plans for bringing stability to the financial system have a positive impact, they could improve the fortunes of the UK housing market.
