Positive picture for commercial property investors
Potential returns in both the residential and commercial sectors are strong, according to latest research.
The most recent UK Economic Brief from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) reveals that house prices increased for the sixth month in a row in April.
Figures show that the period has been outstanding for house price rises, with investors in the buy-to-let sector enjoying strong conditions.
It is also thought that a strengthened economy has boosted the property market as demand for housing has remained high despite the rising levels of unemployment.
Construction levels are also increasing dramatically, with the 42,522 houses built in the first quarter representing the highest total in 16 years.
Flats also accounted for 41 per cent of all new homes that were built in the financial year 2004/05, which is double the amount from five years earlier.
Overall, figures show that rental growth in the month was in fact faster that it has been since October 2001, with the office market enjoying the most rapid period of expansion.
