Property insurance policy owners urged to act fast to claim for storm damage
Property insurance policy owners have been advised that they should act quick if they wish to make a claim for damage done by the recent strong wind and rain to have swept the UK.
The advice comes from the Association of British Insurers (ABI) who have moved to reassure customers and property owners that insurers will be reacting as quickly as possible to deal with problems.
Owners are also advised to take out initial repairs to prevent further damage, but have been assured that proof of receipts will mean these costs are taken into account within the claim itself.
Nick Starling, the ABI's director of general insurance, said: "Insurers expect bad weather to strike and are geared up to dealing with claims for storm damage.
Their number one priority is to ensure that anyone who suffers damage gets their claim dealt with as quickly as possible."
Storm damage will be covered by many home and commercial property insurance policies.
