Property owners urged to keep in check with their roofs
A leading roofing company has issued a warning to property owners to make sure they have adequate roofing protection for their properties.
Myredlandroof also urged landlords and owners to make sure that they have appropriate levels of property insurance. This can be done best by landlords making sure they know what they need and by comparing buildings insurance quotes
Findings in the recent CLG English Housing Condition Survey (EHCS), by the Department for Communities and Local Government, show that around 4.8 million roofs in England are in need of repair. With a new roof costing up to £5,000, this could mean millions of property owners may be left paying the price.
The company said in a statement: "A roof’s life expectancy is between 50 and 60 years so check when the roof was fitted and prepare yourself for a possible re-fit. If you are not too sure how old your roof is, speak to the specialists who can aid you spot the signs of a damaged roof."
The EHCS provides information on the condition and energy efficiency of housing in England.
