Property owners urged to keep on top of upkeep
The managing director of Haken Relocation Services has urged property owners to make sure everything is ship-shape before properties go on the market.
Rental guarantee insurance, along with other legal obligations, is often first on owners' minds when preparing to rent out a property but landlords should make sure the property itself is up to scratch.
Catherine Haken believes that owners should ensure that there are lots of neutral features within the property while there should also be a 'purpose' to each room in the house. Smaller things like this can often be forgotten but Ms Haken is convinced of their benefit.
Ms Haken said: "Everything [should be] looking well maintained and prepared before the property goes on to the market. All those jobs you have ever put off all need to be done before the property is presented."
Haken Relocation Services assists clients in a range of property services, including assisting downsizing for retirement.
