Rental sector performing well for property owners
Property owners and investors within the rental market have been advised that the sector is currently performing well by the sales director of the WMP Group, an independent residential lettings and property management company.
Daniel Cox feels that the market is undoubtedly in a strong position thanks to a shortage of properties and increased demand. He also suggested that the lack of mortgage availability for young buyers is helping the market.
However he also maintained that landlords had similar problems accessing finance and that only property owners with capital would realistically be able to get in on the good times.
Mr Cox said: "The residential lettings market is pretty buoyant at the moment. There is definitely a shortage of properties and more tenants available and, as long as the properties are there, there is a lot of opportunity."
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) reported recently that 19 per cent more surveyors reported that rents rose rather than fell in the three months to October 2011.
