Reusing Hips 'problematic'
Legislation which would allow Home Information Packs (Hips) to be used for up to a year if homeowners decided to sell their property could be problematic, the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) announced last week.
Charles Smailes, president of the group, questioned how useful the documents would be if a property was re-offered.
"We do think there is a need for further consultation because there are several issues surrounding the continuance of this legislation that we want to take issue with the government about," he said.
Commenting on previous legislation relating to the timeframe in which Hips would be valid, Mr Smailes said that a 28-day period before Hips expired was far too short.
The group's comments follow a speech given by former president of the NAEA, Trevor Kent, in which he suggested that the planning behind the packs had been "inept, inefficient and unprofessional".
