Buy to let property insurance: Spain offers 'a lot of opportunities'
11 Aug 2010
British buy to let property insurance customers considering a European investment have been told that there is still an "awful lot of opportunities" on the Spanish property market.
Figures from the National Statistics Institute have shown that Spanish house sales dipped by 1.3 per cent in June, but were apparently up overall by seven per cent on last year.
Research by Tinsa has shown, however, that there was a 4.3 per cent fall in the country's property prices over the past 12 months.
In spite of the mixed outlook, Les Calvert, director at Property-Abroad.com, asserted that there were still "good buys" available for buy to let property insurance policyholders who carefully select the right investment.
"Obviously the property market in Spain has moved tremendously over the last few years. There are an awful lot of repossessed distressed properties on the market, so for a buyer there an awful lot of opportunities out there," he said.
Mr Calvert added that British buy to let property investors remained cautious about investing in European property due to current uncertainties surrounding the UK market.
