Average water bills will remain relatively steady over the next year, although there will be varied prices across the country, buy to let insurance policyholders may be interested to learn.
Ofwat figures show that the average water bill will rise by £3 in 2010/11, although customers of United Utilities Water are likely to see a price decrease of £16 this year.
On the other hand, Northumbrian Water customers could see an £11 increase.
Prices are also different between households which have water meters and those that do not, so buy to let insurance policyholders may want to consider whether it is best to install the measuring devices in their properties or not.
"While many can and do save money by switching to metered charges, others could end up paying more," said Dame Yve Buckland, chair of the Consumer Council for Water.
Recent research by Paragon Mortgages found that one in ten buy to let insurance policyholders intend to purchase residential investment property in the first quarter of the year.
