Brits are seizing the opportunity to become holiday landlords as more people choose to take their breaks in the UK and Europe, according to an expert.
Dennis Klett, co-founder and director of Domegos.co.uk, says that there is more incentive to rent out second homes in order to make some extra cash and also to cover costs.
He comments that there is a growing trend of people who have not previously thought of putting their property on the vacation rental market now listing their homes for let.
Mr Klett adds that those who already rent out their property are also trying to advertise more through the internet to attract holidaymakers.
"Europe has been a huge market for a long time. [In] countries like Denmark or Germany, renting out a holiday home is a common thing," he explains.
Mr Klett reveals that these are the strongest nations for vacation rentals, along with the UK, Italy and Spain.
Domegos.co.uk recently reported that the number of holidaymakers choosing to stay in Britain for their break has risen by 21 per cent in the past six months.
