Property owner numbers could be on the rise
18 Jan 2012
There has been an increase in the number of people looking to purchase house and become property owners, according to Selwyn Lim, director of Mouseprice.
According to new figures released by Rightmove, there has been an increase in the number of people searching for property which has acted as a strong sign for the property market in 2012.
The first ten days of this year saw an increase of 27 per cent in the amount of property search activity compared to last year, the study added, although according to Mr Lim this could be because more people are searching online now.
Mr Lim said: "Part of the increase is just because more people are searching online and less people use newspapers, so there is going to be an increase even if the market is declining, simply because of that. Nevertheless, I am sure some of it is a growth in people searching [for property in general]."
There were 44 million property searches in the first ten days of 2012.
