Remind property owners of solar power's long-term benefits, expert suggests
17 Jan 2012
Property owners and landlords should still be looking to install solar panels to their property despite a reduction in solar subsidies.
That's according to Andrew Leech, director at the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC), who believes that the reduction in subsidies could serve to put people off installing the panels.
Savings made with solar power can add to other money saving measures such as comparing commercial property insurance quotes and also other energy efficient products.
The longer term savings that can be possible with solar panels is something that Mr Leech is keen to be included in any new marketing approach for the technology.
Mr Leech said: "There has got to be a new marketing approach to installing renewable panels on the roof because I think the saving of money is no longer a selling point.
"They have to promote it from the point of view of it being a long-term investment."
Recently, Friends of the Earth claimed that the government's decision to reduce solar subsidies puts almost 30,000 jobs at threat.
